Calibration of network analysers
Our calibration standards ensure the precise calibration of network analysers. We offer calibration kits that guarantee state-of-the-art performance in terms of accuracy and reliability.
Calibration kit accessories (also available as individual parts)
For termination, a broadband terminator can be used which covers the entire frequency range. This enables rapid calibrations, although these are limited in terms of accuracy.
To increase accuracy, a sliding load is recommended. Using a feedline of variable length, the actual termination is always optimised for a specific frequency band. The network analyser specifies a sequence indicating the length at which the sliding load should be set prior to each calibration step. In this way, only a specific sub-range of the entire frequency range is calibrated at any one time.
For TRL calibrations (TRL: thru-reflect-line), precise airlines are available. This highly accurate calibration method is particularly useful at higher frequencies, where the airlines do not become excessively long. Reliable connections are only achieved if the coaxial connectors are tightened to the correct torque.
An adapter set is also important to ensure the correct phase during 2-port calibrations for thru-measurements.
Automatic calibration
For rapid, automated calibration, we recommend using electronic calibration modules (E-Cal modules). For calibration, the test leads are connected directly to the E-Cal module and the module’s control input is connected to the network analyser.
