eFuse / Probe Protector
An eFuse (electronic fuse) in RF measurement technology is an electronic protective device that safeguards sensitive measuring instruments, such as expensive probes and probe heads, from destruction in the event of a short circuit. The highly compact and easy-to-use eFuse disconnects the DC path within nanoseconds in the event of a fault.
During on-wafer measurements of power semiconductors using expensive probes, without probe protection, a slip of the test probe or an unreliable contact can quickly lead to a high DC current, destroying both the DUT and the probe.
The current circuit is routed through this device, also known as a probe protector, and is interrupted within a short time if an adjustable maximum current limit is exceeded. An RS232 interface is provided for integration into automated test stations, through which all functions can be controlled remotely.
