Bias-Tees

A bias tee (also known as a DC-to-RF splitter) is a passive RF component with three connectors that separates or combines direct current (DC) and high-frequency (RF) signals.

It enables active RF components such as amplifiers or antennas to be supplied with operating voltage via the same coaxial cable through which the high-frequency signal is transmitted.

Its internal design, comprising a capacitor (which blocks direct current) and an inductor (which blocks HF signals), prevents the sensitive RF measurement equipment from being damaged by the DC voltage.

Ultra-high voltage bias tee

An ultra high voltage bias tee (UHV bias tee) is a specialised measurement accessory for high-voltage CV measurements on semiconductor components. It combines the high-voltage DC bias with the AC measurement signal from the capacitance measurement unit and routes both signals in a controlled manner to the DUT, without unduly affecting the measurement paths.

Details on the ultra-high-voltage bias tee for CV measurements with the Keysight B1505A can be found in the section Accessories for semiconductor characterisation.
