Directional couplers

Directional Coupler

Directional couplers are passive RF components that couple out a defined small proportion of the signal power in a direction-dependent manner. They enable the separate detection of forward and return waves without significantly affecting the main signal path.

Where are directional couplers used?

In RF measurement technology, directional couplers are used for power monitoring, reflection measurement and to provide attenuated reference signals for measuring instruments such as spectrum analysers.

We are happy to select the right coupler for your project, be it a directional coupler or a hybrid coupler for splitting and combining signals with a 90° or 180° phase relationship. The narrower the operating frequency range, the better the insertion loss and directivity can be optimised. Keysight’s directional couplers, which have been specifically optimised for this task, are ideally suited for measurement applications.
